Reviews of Dunaverty Rock Self Catering Accommodation
One of our best holidays ever.
Cottage was very comfortable. Donnie is a great host ensuring we had everything we needed and lots of useful information and tips on where to enjoy the best scenery etc.
Saw otters most days from the cottage itself and plenty more wildlife out and about. One of our best holidays ever.

Fabulous shoreside location
Our host Donnie was very welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable of the local area and indeed beyond.
When booking, the website photographs set an expectation level, the reality was even better.

Fantastic Location, Great Accommodation, Friendly Owner
Very warm welcome from Donnie the owner who even helped carry bags in. He is really knowledgeable on the area and very helpful.
Village near by has a wonderful tearoom which also does breakfasts.
The Sea Captain's Quarters are a really lovely place to return to after a day exploring the area. Felt at home straight away. Would certainly recommend highly.

High point of the holiday
The location, the warm welcome, and the comfortable accommodation made our stay unforgettable for all the right reasons.
The view across to Ireland was spectacular in the daytime and fantastically exciting at night with the moonlit breakers crashing on the beach under stars unaffected by light pollution.
Donny, the owner, couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, whether advising on parking ("not there, the tide might take it") or pointing out the remains of the castle and the burial site of the Chiefs slaughtered in the massacre ("a greater treachery than Glen Coe").
The apartment was light, airy and spotless with thoughtful touches from corkscrew to cafetière with coffee beans.
I'm looking forward to visiting again with the family.

Superb!!
Birdlife of all sorts (including diving Gannets), seals and otters abound and the beachcombing is excellent! The bay that this cottage looks out on is a lovely sandy stretch, as are other beaches around - great for mind clearing walks.
Last, but not least, Donnie, our host, is such a lovely guy - he is constantly concerned that his visitors have all that they need and even provided us with delicious soup because he had some left over!
I can HIGHLY recommend this venue - do go!

Perfect, peaceful retreat
The studio was spacious, warm and spotlessly clean with an incredible view.
Seeing the moving water makes the space so peaceful and thanks to Donnie's kind suggestions of where to go and what to do we had a magical time in Southend.
Thank you. We'll definitely be back.

The perfect place to escape to!
It is compact in size but has everything you need and is very cozy - even in early January. There is a fire/log burning stove which is great and heats the place up really quickly.
Summer Cottage is right on the beach with some amazing scenery and wildlife on the door step - we saw deer, seals, lots of birds, a hare and a fox.
We had a great time surfing, drinking whiskey and walking along the many beautiful sandy beaches. The perfect place to escape to!

We recommend it highly
Donald is a very welcoming, friendly and helpful host. Tea , coffee, herbs, and fresh flowers were there to welcome us.
Although on the tip of Kintyre it was easy to explore the area, walking, cycling or to get ferries to Gigha and the other islands. Kintyre has marvellous beaches, wildlife and lots of golf courses.
If you like the idea of getting away from it all, this is the place to go. We recommend it highly.

Cosy and well stocked
Knowing you need to climb the stairs to the loft bedroom is important and it is well described in the property description.
We loved the birdlife and were even fortunate to have the sea otters visit.
Donald is a terrifically caring host and we enjoyed our conversations with him. If you are after something ruggedly different then this is the place to go.

Outstanding accommodation
It was a truly unforgettable experience and apart from the outstanding accommodation the hospitality shown to us by Donnie and his son was amazing.
The view as the sun set on the water was spectacular and to top it all off we awoke to find otters playing in the water right outside the cottage.
We have raved about this place and Donnie to all our friends and highly recommend this place.
We would definitely stay here again and hope to do so one day.

Memorable self-catering property in a great location
The window seat in the living room provides a great view across Dunaverty Bay, with lots of wildlife-watching opportunities, while out the back of the property is a lovely little cove surrounded by cliffs and more wildlife. A memorable spot.
Donnie the owner is particularly friendly and helpful.

A great find. Highly recommended. Beautiful sea views.
This was our first visit to Kintyre and for any future trips we will definitely head back to the Dunaverty Rock Boathouse.
Our host, Donnie, is great and he made us feel welcome. He greeted us warmly after our 16.5 mile hike from Campbeltown, even helping me off with my walking boots!
We can highly recommend the Dunaverty Rock Boathouse and its stunning views. It is ideally situated as it's on The Kintyre Way. It is a short walk to the village of Southend where there is small shop, nice tea-room and a welcoming pub that serves meals.
Thanks Donnie for a great stay.

Worth 7 Stars Not a Mere 5 – Totally Fantastic
The Owner Donnie is exceptional. He made us feel very welcome. He offered to do some washing for us and then drove us to Campeltown early the following morning refusing any payment so that we could catch an early bus to Tarbet and ferry to start the Cowal Way walk.
It would have been good to have stayed here for more than just the one night.

I can’t recommend it enough
Every practical detail has been thought of to make a comfortable stay. The restoration of the building has been done with sensitivity and care and it was warm and quiet even on blustery days.
We were delighted to see otters (as well as seals) right in front of the house. Great walking (and golf) starts right outside the door.
Donnie is a great host, friendly, helpful and available but unobtrusive. Would love to stay again.
