High point of the holiday

Dunaverty Rock Sea Captains Quarters was far and away the highlight of a five day driving holiday around the Western Highlands. The location, the warm welcome, and the comfortable accommodation made our stay unforgettable for all the right reasons. The view across to Ireland was spectacular in the daytime and fantastically exciting at night with the moonlit breakers crashing on the beach under stars unaffected by light pollution. Donny, the owner, couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful, whether advising on parking ("not there, the tide might take it") or pointing out the remains of the castle and the burial site of the Chiefs slaughtered in the massacre ("a greater treachery than Glen Coe"). The apartment was light, airy and spotless with thoughtful touches from corkscrew to cafetière with coffee beans. I'm looking forward to visiting again with the family.
